Delay in Implementation of Energy Efficiency and Water Efficiency Standards for Intelligent Toilets

Enterprise News / 2020-04-16

On April 1, the National Standardization Administration issued a notice stating that due to the impact of the COVID-19, the mandatory national standard GB 38448-2019 Minimum Values and Grades of Energy Efficiency and Water Efficiency of Intelligent Toilets, which was originally scheduled to be implemented on July 1, 2020, was postponed to be officially implemented on January 1, 2021.

The sudden outbreak of the epidemic makes it difficult to implement according to the original plan

After the announcement was released, representatives from multiple smart toilet companies told reporters from "Electric Appliances" that this is a good thing for the companies. The person in charge of Kohler stated that before the standard is officially implemented, companies need to test each type of product and update printed materials such as product labels and instructions. However, due to the impact of the epidemic, many companies were unable to implement the original plan in time.

Affected by the novel coronavirus epidemic, the development speed of the intelligent toilet industry slowed down in the first quarter of 2020. According to a survey conducted by the China Household Electrical Appliances Association, currently, due to the slow recovery of various links in the industry chain, the resumption of work progress of various enterprises has been greatly affected. The production plans of intelligent toilet manufacturers have generally been delayed, and various testing institutions have also postponed the completion time of relevant testing project reports; In addition, the production capacity of packaging, printing and other industries that provide supporting services for manufacturing enterprises has also significantly decreased compared to normal situations.

It is estimated that each link in the industrial chain, including production, testing, packaging, and printing, has a delay period ranging from 2 to 4 weeks. When combined, the overall delay will be 2 to 3 months compared to normal production. Therefore, enterprises generally find it difficult to implement the mandatory national standard of "Energy Efficiency and Water Efficiency Limit Values and Grades for Intelligent Toilets" scheduled for July 1st.
